I normally laugh at some of the gadgets at lakeland viz the banana guard but that would languish at the back of my pantry be rather nifty

I am very tempted but was worried it may just be gimmicky. I am a sucker for kitchen gadgets.

you call it kitchen porn too? My dh has to steer me quickly past all the nice shiny pans and kitchen stuff in ikea or I'd spend a fortune.
