DD only really eats breakfast and dinner, doesn't really eat lunch. It seems to me that she will only eat if she is really hungry.

What can I do, cos it's making m feel guilty that she's not eating enough.

eating only if hungry is good. If she's eating fine the rest of the time then it is nothing to worry about.

Mine went through a similar thing. I left a little buffet out for them which they grazed on for an hour or so when they wanted it. Finger food - breadsticks, cheese, chopped up fruit etc. Two nice healthy children grin

My 2 yo DS is the same. He will only eat if he is hungry and only snacky things like toast, cheese, fruit, yoghurt. He does not seem to be suffering from this sort of diet.

from my experience toddlers only eat when they want cant make them. So..take a deep breath and just go with it. Dont feel guilty. As long as you feel she's healthy then dont worry about it. smile

Well, you can't control the hunger signals her body sends her, so you have nothing to feel guilty about.

my lo only does brekky and tea or dinner or whatever you want to call it, she tends to 'munch' her way through the day on yogurts, bananas, cheese triangles or chunks, bits of cucumber, the odd biccy if she's good. I wouldn't worry about it, it's a good thing that she doesn't just eat for the sake oof it imo as some just eat because there's food there to be had and not because they're hungry

My two year old sometimes eats like a horse, sometimes like a sparrow. He always prefers several small meals to three big ones.

Children are much better eaters than many adults.

They generally eat when they are hungry and not when the clock says rhey should be.

Accept your child is a 2 meal person and make sure in those meals she has all she needs.

My DD isn't much of a breakfast eater and sometimes doesn't bother much with lunch. I give her snacks of chunks of cheese, fruit, oatcakes during the day which more than makes up for it. Is she tired at lunch? My DD won't eat when she's tired

chipo Thu 24-Jul-08 22:20:43

No, dd is the same won't eat anything if she's tired. I always try and feed her after her lunchtime nap.

Like the others have siad, your lo will eat when she is hungry.
Ds is 2 - some days he eats almost nothing and other days he eats well. he has plenty energy though and is healthy - good enough for me!
