I know this is a bit of a daft question but I realised today that I am still giving ds2 [8 months] cooled boiled water to drink as I have no idea what age they can have tap water.

I think from 6 mo - but i use evian mostly as we have fluoride added here.

With my first(9yr Old) my health visitor told me at a year or bottled Evian like TracyK, followed those rules with my 2nd aswell. By the time i had my twin boys now 2 I was far more relaxed, they were just under 6mnths and we were going away for a few days and I didn't want to be boiling water for their drinks aswell as their bottles! Believe you do have to be careful if water has added fluoride

how do you know if the water has added fluoride?

'SPA' mineral water is OK from 6 months

Ring up your local water board - number is in the Yellow Pages. They can tell you if fluoride has been added.
