I am doing lamb shanks for our dinner and it says cover withstock to cook. I don't want to use stock, do I have too or what else can I use? I have put some red onions and carrots under the meat.

Sounds great , was once told you shouldn't cook with anything you wouldn't be prepared to drink!

Would probably put a fair amount in there unless you are cooking them in a slow cooker.

Damn, didn't think of the slow cooker. They are in the oven and I have put about a glass full. Not enough?

Just checked and poured more on. I would need 2-3 bottles to completely cover them.

You could add water too - doesn't need to be 100% vino . Got any bay leaves to flavour it up a bit?

itati · 10/07/2008 18:51

Will add water if needed next time. No bay leaves, not something I have bought since DS1 was 1.
