Has anybodys child eaten dog food? !!!

Not really the best place to start a thread, under food but DD has just eaten the remainders of the dogs dinner!!! It's not the first time she's done it and whats more worrying is that she seems to like it!!
Has this happened to anyone else and is it ok for human consumption!
Also while I think on, are olives ok to give 15mo, she really likes them!

Your DD is now a member of the "Pet Food Connosieurs Club" (sure that's spelt wrong).
In this club she will liase with others like my DS who is equally fond of cat food .

Officially, the meat in pet food is classed as unfit for human habitation, however, it's unlikely to have done her any harm. You can always ring NHS Direct for advice on this. My DS ate talcum powder once and they were able to tell me not only the ingredients but what to watch for. He was fine.

On the subject of pet food, I now keep all cat food in the kitchen and put a gate on the door so DS can't get at it - he's just turned 2 so hoping that he'll be grown out of it soon.

Olives. Can't see any reason why not as long as they're not whole when she has them (theoretically a choking hazard). Otherwise can't see why they can't be eaten - she has good taste - I love olives - specially with a glass of wine (chilled, white).

My DS2 had quite a liking for IAMS cat food (dry stuff), there was nothing we could do to keep him from pinching some, didn't do him any harm, although obviously I didn't encourage it and did serve him normal meals to eat (although he is having the mother of all tantrums just now but I don't think it has anything to do with the cat food ).

IMO if she likes the olives give her them, my DS1 liked olives and I can remember him eating them at 21 months.

It makes me cringe as it's tripe with mixer biscuits in it and the tripe has these stringy white bits in and it stinks like one of them nappy bins thats full!!!! ERGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

My DD has eaten countless bowls of catfood. So many, in fact, that we've had to move the cat bowls into the garage to curb her addiction

Even worse is when she comes into the living room, perches herself on the sofa and does a huge burp which smells like hot farts [gagging emoticon]. WHY would she want to eat something that smells like hot farts FFS ?!

I hope my dd develops better taste when shes older! Although I can't complain as I could'nt eat olives and at the moment she's eating cheese and tomato ketchup sarnies!

I would be more worried about her sharing dog germs by eating his leftover food than the dog food per se

I don't know about dog food, but we once found my sister, aged about 18 months, happily eating some other dog product that our grandfather had unknowingly bought into the house on his shoes...

Yep, my dd used to snaffle some of my dogs biscuits behind my (and Spottys) back and also eat whatever food he had left in the bowl. Not recomended but did her absolutley no harm whatsoever. The dogs bowls are now outside the back door so she can't get to them.
She also loves raw onions and olives - she tried raw onion once when were we having a curry takeaway and screams blue murder until she gets some every time now.

My little brother always was eating our dogs shapes biscuits and dog choccy drops at every oppertunity

He is now 37 and very intelligent and in high powered business.

so perhaps we should encourage it.

My disgusting little brother (now a Warrent Officer working in a British Embassy) used to eat fish food flakes to gross me out. I was 13 at the time and trying to be oh so cool but when I brought my friends home the little git would open the tin of fish food and tuck in. For years I was the girl "with the weird brother". Oh how I hated him.

My MIL puts dog food in FIL stew quite regularly along with a cocktail of laxitives!!!

I thought I once heard that dog food was taste tested by humans so it shouldn't do her any harm. What a nightmare. You will have to make sure the dog eats all his dinner in one go from now on!

Olives? Fine I should think. It's a fruit isn't it? Are they pickled though? Might be a bit too salty.

Mine has - whilst the dog was eating too! Apparently it won't do them any harm and they are unlikely to have any ill effects from the dog either
What concerns me is cat and dog food ingredients, eg, chicken dog food is 4% chicken and "meat and animal derivatives"...??? Its also easily scared
