I want to be Nigella

I need a starter for 12 which I can take with me to friends for NYE dinner. I think it will probably have to be cold as I can't bank on being able to use her oven when I arrive, as I know she is cooking venison as our main course. Pudding is pavlova or something, provided by one of the others. Any marvellous suggestions?

PS want to appear to be Nigella, but without too much effort!!!!

I want to be Nigella too, mainly for her lovely house and spectacular boobs

As for the food, what about some gazpacho? Easy to make in a blender and served chilled or room temp with little croutons. It wouldn't be too filling either.

Smoked salmon? Can't think of anything easier.

Prawn cocktail - marginally more effort.

I love gazpach!, but funnily enough we had that last time we went to these friends for supper.

How about antipasto?

Arrange a selection of the following attractively on a huge platter:

various cooked sliced meats
salami
smoked salmon
prawns
anchovies
boiled eggs
sliced cheese
cherry toms
artichoke hearts
radishes
spring onions
marinaded mushrooms
olives
sliced peppers, cucumber, carrots

etc, etc.

Drizzle it all in olive oil. Serve with a selection of interesting breads. People love this and it looks so impressive.
