i'm just being nosy/ looking for fresh ideas.

my staple dishes are:

mince:

lasagne, spaghetti bolognese, meatballs in tomato sauce, moussaka (sp?)

chicken:

chicken curry (usually with spinach added coz dd loves it), chicken stiryfry with noodles, chicken paella/risotto, chicken soup, roast chicken dinner

lamb:

lamb casserole, lamb and kidney bean stew or any other veg, lamb curry

soups: barley and mushroom soup, vegetable soup

and fish and chips, probably once a week, home made.

how about you?

chicken curry but beef good too
spag bol
chilli
cottage pie
trout or salmon baked in foil parcel with lemon or lime and lots of veg - roast sweet and normal potato wedges
fish pie
lovely pork chops in cider sauce
lloyd grossman pasta sauce if feeling lazy

jerk chicken and rice
lamb chops
lamb or beef stew
pasta
spanish omelette
salady stuff
mackerel
beetroot or squash soup
fish and chips from the chippy!

I do lots of pasta salady type dishes where I cook a big bowl of pasta and then add any combination of the following;

pesto,
cherry toms, cucumber, pepper, capers, anchovies, chorizo, boiled egg, goats'cheese, parmesan

Anything goes really, the boys love it.

Burritos made with quorn mince and baked in the oven with melted low fat mozzarella on top.

Veg and lentil curry

Sausages and mash with onion gravy

Jerk chicken with coconut rice and mango and avocado salsa

Pad Thai

Puy lentils braised with tomatoes and fennel served with baked goats cheese.

Teriake Salmon or Tuna with noodles and veg.

They are my staples at the moment, it changes every couple of weeks.

Current staples (we usually eat them once every couple of weeks until we get bored) are:

  • veggie chilli with salad and tacos
  • lentil soup with naan bread (we all love this and have it at least once a month)
  • falafel with fatoush, tsatsiki etc
  • baked potatoes, veggie sausages and cauliflower cheese
  • veggie curries of various kinds
  • baked sweet potatoes with chickpea casserole
  • pasta with peppers, tomatoes etc

current staples (and I do go through phases)

pasta and bolognese/chilli/lasgane

sausage casserole and mash

pasta with meatballs and tom sauce

bacon and butternut risotto

tomato and green bean risotto

bacon, leek and potato pie

ratatouie

baked pots and fillings

roast chicken followed the next day by chicken casserole and rice

change a bit with the seasons, , atm its a bit:

tomato leek risotto grilled salmon

home made tomato sauce w/ anchovies penne pasta
or with spaghetti w/ parmesean

tomato aubergine parmesean bake

yes, you spotted a bit of a theme...but i can get fresh plum toms at 60p per pound atm..yum...

marinated lime chili ginger soy tuna steak w/ warm lentil salad with roast onions peppers garlic

prawn and spinach curry naan and basmati

veg soup lentils split peas and loads of veg seasonal

jap rice sea bass nori pickles and wasabi

wedges
dips
salads ..lots of
atm its
cucumber mint and garlic w/ yogurt dressing
red cabbage carrot fennel winter salad

homemade veg soups/stews

curries - prawn korma, dopiaza and dansak or with vege pieces
macaroni cheese with salad or veg
jacket potatoes with salad
pasta with pesto, olives, peppers etc
pizza homemade and bought
sausage casserole or sausage and mash.

Just searched the archive for 'staple dishes' - knew there'd be a thread like this - just what I need right now as my cooking routine has gone right out the window since DD1 started school. Am planning on getting a slow cooker which should help I hope. Anyway thought I'd revive this useful thread - I will add my list to it once I get back to 'normal', hopefully after half term ...

lettuce risotto (bit summery though, might revert to a more wintery one)

Roast 'meat'
'meat' casseroles / stews
'meat' with pots and veg

Pizza
Macaroni cheese (+/- bacon / tomatoe)
Cauliflower cheese
Pasta with tomatoe and mascarpone sauce
Pasta with napolitana sauce
Filled tortilini / Canneloni etc
Pasta + any fresh sauce from waitrose

Filled Jacket Potatoes
Scrambled egg
Rolls / sandwiches / pitta / wrap
toasties
Soup

that is mostly what i cook, and all of my charges eat all of the above wuthout fuss (despite havung used to be fussy )

Bolognaise, curry (thai or indian), roast chicken, stir fry with noddles, lentil and veg soup, meatballs and burgers.

Very bored though! Need to get some new dishes i think.
