Has anyone successfully made dough in a food processor?

Just bought a new one and it has a "dough blade". Does this replace kneading? I've looked at a few recipes online and some say knead, and others don't, so I'm a bit confused.

Looking for some real life experiences/recipes please!

Lots. The dough hook on the kitchen aid replaces the kneading stage. It’s quite noisy and still takes about 20mins - but worth it. The bread is so much better than bread machine bread.

Nah, it's more of a faff than it's worth and you can't really make a decent amount with it. There are no knead recioes if you want to avoid kneading. thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/soft-or-crusty-rolls

I guess it will depend on the machine but we make large loaves or eg 9 x good sized rolls.

Before I had my Kitchenaid mixer, I used to make my dough in the food processor using the blade as per this method here slice.seriouseats.com/2010/10/the-pizza-lab-how-to-make-great-new-york-style-pizza.html

It was good, in fact looking back at that I don't know why I switched other than the novelty of my new toy...

In the opposite to @MsRinky, I bought my KitchenAid specifically because making bread dough in my food processor was a nightmare - it was a decent machine but the motor couldn't cope and bits of dough escaped into the mechanism every time.

I guess give it a go, or Google your exact make of food processor and see if anyone has made bread successfully with it.

I do find the kitchenaid mixer much better. For sheer convenience, I use my breadmaker for day to day loaves. It takes less time to set up than it does to get my shoes on, walk across to the very nearby coop and queue.

My magimix makes great dough. Mix, prove, mix and you're ready to shape.
Straightforward and no mess

I make my dough in my kenwood mixer. 5 mins on the dough hook and then pop in pressure cooker on yogurt setting to proof for 30 mins then shape. That makes fab bread and I can get it ready quickly too!

Thanks all. Still haven't attempted it, but think I might try by hand first anyway. Made naans by hand last weekend and they were brilliant ( Dishoom recipe).
