Start using Mumsnet PremiumSprouts on stalk
(9 Posts) Hello! I have just returned from our local farm shop with a huge basket of lovely veg for Christmas I have a large stalk of sprouts, have never bought them like this before, so should I take them off the stalk and put in my fridge or keep in the very cold pantry on the stalk? I think I have read somewhere they last longer and keep fresher on the stalk, any sprout advice
Thank you
I would keep on the stalk
We keep it in the fridge on the stalk. They're lovely and fresh on the stalk.
Definitely keep them on the stalk.
Keep on the stalk - cold, dark place as all fridges are going to full to bursting soon!
Sprout tops are nice too.
Pop the bottom of the stalk in water. Treat as a Christmas decoration in the kitchen
Don't do what I did and put them in the shed, as my fridge was full. When I went to get them on Christmas Day they had been eaten by rats
Thank you everyone. I kept them on the stalk and the ones I have not cooked yet still look fresh and lovely. I did put the stalk in the fridge though.
