Family friendly fish recipes?

Teaandchocolatedigestives · 07/11/2020 14:49

I'm trying to incorporate some more fish into our meals. Beyond fish pie, fish cakes and homemade fish fingers, I'm struggling to think of family-friendly recipes? I have two young children, no allergies or anything.

Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks Smile

baked salmon with a squirt of sweet chilli sauce over the top, or soy and honey if you don't like sweet chilli. Serve with rice or potato dish of your choice.

cod baked with cherry tomatoes spinach and bacon

White fish in a cheesy sauce with boiled potatoes and green veg

Prawn stir fry

Just plain fried seabass, just dip it in seasoned flour before frying and it goes nice and crispy

Tuna pasta bake always a winner

Salmon works well in a curry, the more tikka or tomatoey kind than the creamy kind of curry

Cod topped with pesto and wrapped in foil.
Hot smoked salmon fillets- the type you eat cold are not too “fishy” and tend to go down well.

My children used to like fish o'leekie , I'd make a white or cheese or parsley sauce as DH doesn't like anything too dry.

Cut fish into goujons, spread with red pesto, coat in breadcrumbs, bake. Works well with chunks of chicken too

Baked salmon with boiled potatoes and a creamy lemon sauce goes down well here. If you bake the salmon with sauce on top I tend to add a layer of fresh spinach inbetween.
Otherwise as others have suggested fish and prawns taste nice in a curry and I sometimes do a tandori rub cod with saag aloo and chickpeas

Tuna pasta. -tuna, pasta and mayo. Can add peas and/or sweetcorn.

Tuna rice bake - Soften a chopped onion and mix with cooked rice. Spread out in oven dish. Cover with tinned tuna (if you get the one in oil then keep the oil to one side). Cover with chopped tinned tomatoes. Layer of cheese sauce (you can use the oil from the tuna instead of butter). Top with cheese and bake until crispy.

Salmon risotto.

I've not made this but it looks delicious

kedgeree

this is easy and really tasty

another one i haven't tried yet

The packs of salmon or trout flakes are good to stir into cooked pasta with some cream cheese such as Boursin and a splash of cream. Warm through to melt the cheese into a sauce.

Smoked salmon and creme fraiche stirred through pasta.

Not proper cooking obviously but ds and I have frozen cod in batter with rice and green veg once a week. It's quick, easy and tasty at the end of a busy day.

Another lazy option is the mussels in their shells in a garlic and wine source that just need heating through with eg cheese and garlic flatbread. Haven't had that in a while but used to be popular with ds.

As you can see quick and easy is a bit of a priority for me
