Start using Mumsnet PremiumI’m trying to make pumpkin butter. It’s disgusting.
(6 Posts)Do I give up & bin it?
I think it might have a tiny bit too much cloves in & I accidentally blended in the cardamoms. How can I rescue it?
Do I put in more sugar? Treacle?
In case it helps anyone else, a generous teaspoon of treacle, some vanilla, some butter and a dessert spoon full of golden syrup seems to have helped considerably.
It’s now sitting in the fridge menacing me.
Only three more pumpkins to get through. Soup anyone?
Pumpkin soup is lovely. What will you do with your pumpkin butter?
Risotto, with tonnes of bacon and Parmesan.
Enough bacon and Parmesan to drown the taste of the pumpkin you mean?
I am proposing to spread it on toast. I foresee it lasting well into the new year, there is lots of it.
I was going to do a nut butter with the seeds, but have discovered that I can’t be bothered to shell them all, so I’m just eating them.
