Anyone fancy sharing their favourite dal? I have come to the conclusion that I would like to eat it every single day.

I made this one with mung beans a few days ago (exactly as the recipe but added a large handful of red lentils ten minutes before the end) and really enjoyed it...

This aubergine dal is a favourite here too...

And for super easy...

Ooh... aubergine one looks nice, might leave out the apricots though as i imagine they add a fair bit of sweetness?

Oh thanks - I have nothing useful to add but I love a good daal!

This one!

Aubergine one looks amazing. I like Meera Sodha's Sri Lankan dhal with lime-spiked greens:
Also a versatile BBC Good Food one:

this one is incredible (that'll be the heap of butter & cream in it, I suppose) dishoom dal

I wish I had this problem. I've never made a Dahl that didn't taste like nothing.

This is absolutely delicious.

One thing to be aware of in the recipe, reduce both the cooking time and the amount of water you use to cook the lentils - far to long/too much liquid.

Lovely thread.

Nothing to contribute, but will enjoy looking at the suggestions.

I got cabbage in my veg box, I’ll try that one this weekend @Pomegranatemolasses

Thanks everyone!

The dishoom daal mentioned by a previous poster is divine! I found it hard to get black lentils (also known as urad daal) but found them in a Chinese supermarket.

Easy to cook & freezes well, enjoy!

Believe it or not I’ve just made this following the recipe exactly - wish I’d read Pomegranate’s post first though, she’s right there’s far too much liquid!. I’ve drained most of it away and it will just about do.
I’m quite fond of the all in one nigella spiced tomato dahl in The Quick Roasting Tin book

this is our favourite recipe - a big hit with the family.
See the link to the fast Naan bread at the bottom - also delicious. I will never buy the supermarket crap Naan again grin

Tried the Sri Lankan dhal and it was very nice! Going into my family’s rotation! Thx for the recipe!

This is a traditional Gugarati daal recipe, my colleagues love itand it tastes like pilau rice with minimal carbs.

I love daal but struggle to cook it. Following for the recipes but if anyone has any tips please go ahead!

I've been using the Tesco dhal recipe since a previous MN dhal-love thread.

It's perfectly decent and very easy, but I'm definitely up to try more.

I think I used half the tomatoes & coconut milk (replaced with water?) when I made in bulk, just because I didn't have enough. Still nice but I daresay could have been better.

I've just made black dhal in the slow cooker. It's immense.
Struggling to share the link but it's on the Good Food app

Just making my presence felt so I can find these glorious recipes again
