Lobster!

Really getting in to food deliveries over this lockdown!

I ordered the Facebook offer fish box from this place. www.theoysterman.co.uk/. All the food is fresh, not frozen. Had the scallops last night and they were gorgeous.

However, there is a whole cooked lobster in the box. Any ideas on how to serve it/make it into a meal? (I also don't have the "implements" to break it up so any pointers on that are welcome!)

No 'implements' needed.

Oh I've been there in real life and it's a gorgeous place. Lobster and chips with mayo is the best!

For pre-cooked lobster, I think this recipe for Lobster Thermidor works really well - I was surprised how easy it was!

Had the lobster last night having followed @4merlyknownasSHD YouTube instructions. Surprisingly easy. Delicious. fingerprints in ribbons after shelling the langoustines though. Still have loads left.

@Blondie1984 no skinny fries as I'm using up baby potatoes from the veg box but I did make some garlic mayo which went perfectly with it. Thank you!

@georgedawes on our list for when travel opens in Scotland. The owner has put the takeaway menu in the box - langoustine and chips! Well worth a drive to Skye!

@inextremis - next time. That looks very easy.

Thanks all!

Hi OP
Does this arrive frozen? How long do you have to eat it all? I was a bit worried about the shelf life but equally want to order!

It's fresh.

There was a note in the box with when it had to be eaten - it was seven days from arrival. I don't think I would have kept it that long, though. Scallops and langoustines really have to be eaten as fresh as possible. (And it was a lot of langoustines for just the two of us - threw the rest out this morning)

Thanks for replying. Regarding the langoustines - how many came? I can see the weight but I'm a heathen and have no idea what that actually translates to. Same with scallops and the rest of it!, Can you please help OP? We are going to order but would prefer to understand so we can plan! Smile

@LadyGAgain. I'm pretty hopeless at measures!

There were 8 scallops and they were huge.

I served a cupful with the lobster
I made a salad with langoustines for two of us (more than a cupful?).
I put about a cupful in a risotto

I threw out a third of the langoustines received. Sacrilege I know. I should have peeled them when they arrived and frozen them. I'll know next time.
