Packed Lunch AND Tea Ideas

We've got a few days out planned where we'll be out over dinner and tea time and I'm wondering what food to take. 2 different cold meals? Try and keep something warm for tea? Any ideas, need to be veggie and child friendly. Thanks

We often have quiche and salad for packed lunch or take soup in a thermos.

Pesto or tuna sweetcorn pasta salad with cherry tomatoes keeps well all day in a cool box.

Falafel wraps/pitta bread also do well.

We also like this sausage and potato salad realfood.tesco.com/recipes/sticky-sausage-and-crushed-new-potato-salad.html

I’d think if you were going to try and have 1 warm meal it would be best to have that at lunch as it will be cooler by the evening.
Personally I’d just go for cold for both meals but that is probably because I don’t have enough food flasks to cater for the whole family!
I’d go bread based for one meal, baguette, wraps etc then fritata, pasta salad, rice salad, or cous salad etc for the other meal. Then both could be padded out with extras like crudités, tortilla chips, cocktail sausages, cheeses, olives etc. With some fruit and cake or biscuits for pud.
Alternatively go for one cold course and find a chippy!

I'd say hot lunch and cold dinner too. Soup or pasta in a thermos would work then a cold buffet for dinner so something like quiche, cous cous and salad.

Can you plan at hot drink in the afternoon from a takeout place?

A wide-mouth thermos is brilliant.
Fill with boiling water for a few moments, empty & fill with hot food.
Keeps hot for many hours.

I'm thinking warm lunch and cold tea would be easiest. My little darlings are iffy on soup and pasta in sauce, but I could see veggie hot dogs being a goer. Do you put the in the thermos in any liquid or just shove them in?
Would baked potatoes keep warm, if well wrapped? maybe in a 'cool'box?

Will you be in the car for tea or still out and about?

I used to put pash and beans with cheese in my daughters food flask and that was still warm at lunchtime. So baked potato-esque but easier in the mornings! Also the flavoured cous cous sachets with added sweetcorn and peppers. Leftover curry / chinese and rice, or pasta and sauce - give it 2 mins in the microwave to reheat and bang that into a pre heated flask.

I think for baked potatoes you would probably need a food flask each.
