I can't get any condensed milk for love nor money, so not Soupy's one please. But any other good chewy not-to-crumbly ones would be fantastic. Smile

Press the mixture down firmly before baking, and allow them to cool completely in the tin before lifting them out to stop them from becoming too crumbly.
Jumbo whole oats give a lighter, more crumbly texture, whereas rolled oats make a more dense flapjack. I use a mixture.

This one, but with just a but of cinnamon and nutmeg, no more than 3/4 tsp.

The Be-RO 2,4,6,8 recipe, it's the one my mum always used.

2 tablespoons golden syrup
4 ounces Demerara sugar
6 ounces butter
8 ounces oats

Melt the golden syrup, butter and sugar then stir in the oats

Squish down into a tin that's been buttered and lined with baking paper.

Gas 4 for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Leave to cool for a few minutes then use a sharp knife the score cuts. Let it cool completely in the pan, then use the lines you made to cut through and decant into a tin. I always find they're best the day after, like Ginger cake they seem to get chewier/stickier over night.

250g porridge oats
125g unsalted butter
125g brown sugar
4 tablespoons golden syrup

In a saucepan melt the butter, sugar and syrup. Once it’s melted stir in the oats

Then put on baking paper, on a baking tray
Cook at 200 for 15 minutes

I drizzle with dark or white chocolate once they are cooled before I cut in to 12 pieces
