so, i have to make a birthday cake for fil's 70th for 30 people. recipe suggestions please laydeez

it's got to be simple

Chocolate cake

2cups of sugar
4 eggs
4 teaspoons bakingpowder
2 cups of flour
4 tablespoons of cocoa
pinch of salt
125g butter
1 cup of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla essence

Bake for 30 min at 180Degrees Celsius

Mix eggs and sugar together well. Sift bakingpowder, flour, cocoa and salt and add to sugar and egg mixture.
Mix together but not to much.
Bring milk and butter to boil. Add to mixture and mix well.
Add essence.


I usually divide the cake mixture between 2 round cake tins. When cooled down I put them on top of each other and put caramel between the two.

ICING:

125g butter
small amount of boiling milk
icing sugar (best is whitworths from Morrisons)
2 tablespoons of cocoa

add icing and cocoa to butter, add very small amount of boiling milk and mix.
cover chocolate cake.

very easy to make.
