How do I use pre made pie filling?!

So my gran makes a delicious pie, way better than my homemade and uses a chicken in a white sauce tin for the filling!

I have brought a couple of tins to make pie for dinner this evening but i have no idea how to do it and can’t get hold of her.

I want to put some vegetables in the pie also, so should i fry the onions and other vegetables i want to put in, and then add the tinned chicken in a sauce to the frying pan to heat and mix the flavours? i’m so confused, thanks!

No need to heat the tinned chicken. Just cook your veg and mix it with the pie filling. Add it to the pastry case, put pastry lid on, cook in the oven.

i was defiantly over complicating this in my head 😂 would you use any stock or should the white sauce be enough?

yes..pastry bottom, hurl in filling, put lid on!

no stock required, but make sure the veg is properly cooked and cooled before you mix it in with the filling.

My ma uses that tinned chicken and it's lovely in a pie! I used to get it and do twice baked potatoes with it..scoop out the potato, add the chicken, some drained tinned sweetcorn, S&P, loads of grated cheese and then bake into the potato skins and into the oven with more cheese and snipped chives on top!
