Standard repertoire for family baker

I've decided I need to find some failsafe recipes and perfect them. What do you think should be in a list of family favourites? Nothing too complicated, just things to make & enjoy as a family.
I'll start with:
Scones (my favourite)
Victoria sponge
Fruitcake
Chocolate cake
Brownies
Flapjacks
Muffins
White/brown/wholemeal bread & pizza
Fairy cakes
Biscuits

It's clear that I need more savoury things. Maybe a quiche? I don't really have many good biscuit recipes either.

If you do scones you could do cheese scones to make them savoury. Or cheese straws?

If you can make pastry you can do quiche or savoury pies. Don't bother with puff pastry - much better to buy from the shops.

I agree with pastry-basic shortcrust opens up loads of options. My Nan used to send me off to uni with masses of pasties for the freezer. I buy filo and puff.

Pizza dough is easy and lovely to do for a family meal.

Lots of good ideas thanks. Lemon drizzle definitely belongs on the list, as does shortbread (which I used to make). I can do a good shortcrust, but it's not something we eat a lot of. I prefer puff, so tend to just buy a packet of jus-rol!
I don't see the point in cheese scones, tbh, and I'm not particularly bothered by carrot cake.
I am the master of pavlova!

So I think the next things for me to work on are a quiche, a Madeira and biscuits. Think I'll go for the quiche next week.

Have you bought a huge sack of flour, Keds? Flour and muscovado sugar seem to be unobtainable from Ocado at the moment. I don't know if they're easier to get anywhere else. I've seen mention here of people buying catering size bags. I don't bake a lot but it's making me a little bit twitchy that I don't have that much plain flour left.

Aha! Fine for lentils, thanks. I could help out with egg noodles as I think I stocked up on those a few months ago when there was a special offer.

Try either your corner shop or local farm shop for flour, GaspOde.

I know they seem unlikely sources but a large catering bag would be too much for me and I was also getting twitchy about the amount of plain flour I had left. Both the village shop and the farm shop were able to help. They've each bought the large bags from the nearest mill and are selling it on by the kilo. I was even able to get SR flour and bread flour. Worth asking.

We get egg noodles from the Chinese cash & carry, in a box so big the children use it for a den when it's empty.

Sadly, I'm in inner London, Teds! Not many farm shops round here. if things get desperate I'll venture out to the local supermarkets and corner shops. Meanwhile, I've got an ancient packet of cornflour that I can use for some things. I also have a packet of gram flour which I bought a couple of months ago. I can't now remember why but it may come in handy.

Basic flatbreads (go with anything from curry to chilli and you can add flavours in as you like)

Morrisons and Asda are bagging up flour in their own paper bags.

Cheese scones
Cheese tartlets
Cheese biscuits
What the Sri Lankans call 'short eats' - curried fish rissoles, and bread buns with various curries cooked inside them (the latter are known as Pang Susi in Malaysia, you might find a recipe under that name)
Also curry puffs - basically mini curry pasties

I'm making myself hungry...
