Bread and butter pudding but with alternative to bread and some booze

Years ago someone invited me to a potion of a bread and butter pudding they had made. I remember it was made with croissants and some whiskey or brandy. Since I am still thinking about this years later, and have loads of time on my hands I think I will be giving it a go.

Anyone know of a wonderful bread and butter pudding recipe that is not basic, but a indulgent and will be a keeper for special occasions?

I don't have the recipe as such, but I do remember one where the bread was buttered and then spread with marmalade and it had raisins soaked in Cointreau in it. The Cointreau then went in with the custard.

Nigella has one with caramel and I think rum if I remember correctly. I’ve made it a few times and it’s pretty tasty so may be worth a shot.

There was a nice nigella recipe involving croissants and bourbon, can’t seem to find it tho, maybe it was a Christmas one?

I made one (after eating it in a restaurant) that was rum and raisin bread and butter pudding. Bloody delicious.

yes..i'd soak the fruit in the booze...amaretto would be good too! I also don't have an actual recipe, it all depends on the dish I am using and what i have to use

I often do bread and butter pudding with panetonne or pandoro, sometimes those brioch type things you can get in Aldi/Lidls

Also, use double cream instead of milk for the custard part.

have done a chocolate one too ...warming the cream and melting the chocolate in it, then adding the eggs when it is cool enough not to scramble them

I had one once made with brioche. No booze, but I like the idea of Cointreau or Amaretto.

Here's the recipe. It uses Brioche instead of bread which is extra nice.

I like the American recipe which uses cake crumbs mixed into the egg custard and baked. Add other flavourings if you wish i.e. cinnamon, sultanas etc.

Brioche with Cointreau, apricots and pistachios is lovely
M and S chocolate hot cross buns with raisins and Baileys or Rum
Brioche with orange zest, white chocolate Liqueur and some freeze dried raspberries

All with the custard and sugar bit too!
