Cold buffet ideas

I’d love to hear your cold buffet ideas. So far I am planning veggie quiche, coronation chicken, variety of salads, new potatoes, bread, cheese, crisps, dips, veg crudités. Maybe cooked sliced ham. I don’t want to make sandwiches or cook chicken nugget type things. I need to cater for some vegetarians and coeliacs, and there are a few children among the guests (age 8-14 but quite fussy). Any other amazing ideas that I’m missing?

Veggie sausage rolls. Loved by everyone.

Pizza is good too. You can either make it from scratch or the jus rol sourdough base is really nice.

You’ll need to put the food for coeliacs on a different table so there’s no cross contamination.

I would do either frittata or a Spanish omelette instead of quiche then it’s suitable for coeliacs too. Honey or chilli glazed sausages always go down well. Cheese board with celery, grapes and oat cakes is super easy. Salad wise a Greek salad, roasted veg with either couscous or wild rice and homemade coleslaw are quick to assemble and popular.

I make vietnamese rolls (summer rolls) for friends who are coeliacs. There are lots of youtube videos on how to make them. I usually just use rice noodles and veggies inside, so they are vegan also. Served with a peanut/satay sauce- Yum.

I wouldn't think cold sausage rolls and cold pizza would be nice.

I always thought coronation chicken was a sandwich filling? Instead of that, why not just cook chicken legs in a soy/sesame sauce? Easy for kids to hold with a napkin and eat.

Devilled eggs

Vol-u-vents with various fillings

Devilled eggs
Waldorf salad with chopped smoked mackerel added
Samosas

The last party we had I did the following (kids party but mostly adults attending):
Roasted veg couscous
Pasta with feta, red onion, sundried tomatoes and sundried tomato paste
Courgette salad
Egg mayo sandwiches
Cheese wraps
Houmous and crudités
Fruit flatter
Cheese 'sausage' rolls

Ba side of salmon always makes a nice centre piece. Maybe some falafel and toasted pita with hummus and If you want another veggie option or other wise a salad which has nuts or cheese (Greek salad with feta/ rocket, pear, celery and blue cheese, tomato mozerella and basil with lots of black pepper and rock salt, celery nut and sultana, brown rice, carrot and orange with walnuts etc)
Disagree with coronation chicken being a sandwich filling. That stuff you get in the little plastic tub for sandwiches is a poor and distant cousin of beautiful big platters of homemade salad and fresh, ‘real’ chicken!

Nigella’s salt and pepper wings are always a big hit and are good hot or cold.

In my experience fussy kids at a buffet tend to stick to things like ham, cocktail sausages (there are never enough!), bread and crudites.

Elouera are you Aussie? We eat cold sausage rolls
In the UK much to my Aussie daughter’s horror Shock

If you have the patience OP, mini skewers or tooth picks with baby bocconcini, basil leaf and cherry tomato has been popular when I’ve made them.
