Hi, some help needed please. Thought I had some basmati rice but only have arborio. Can arborio be used as a substitute?

Might be a bit soggy. We like chilli with baked potatoes or crusty bread or sometimes just layered up with tortilla chips and cheese, avocado, sour cream, salsa that kind of thing.

Yeah I'd put it in a jacket potato instead

It's risotto rice so it will be mushy and soggy compared to basmati, but in the absence of anything else I'd use it.

Ehhh I wouldn't, arborio really doesn't do the right thing at all it'll be like rice soup.

Better to switch starches. Baked potato/chips, bowl+hunks of chunky bread, on a pile of tortilla chips?
