A few times a year 3 families meet at friends for a meal and I generally bring the pudding. I normally make it in 2 pyrex casseroles or a huge lasagne dish. I need something I can prepare at home and stick in the oven to cook whilst we are eating the main course so 25 mins cooking time tops really. Or something cold that will cope with a couple of hours in the car.

Age range is 2- 65 so no alchohol. Cream needs to be optional rather than integral as a few dont like it.

I've done fruit crumbles, fruit sponge, fruit pies, chocolate sponge with the sauce underneath, treacle sponge etc. Doesn't have to be dainty! Would like to do something different this time if anyone has a brilliant idea!

Jam or a fav of mine at the moment -Nutella roly poly. Bit retro but would suit the older end of your company!

Baked Cheesecake (unless that breaks the cream rule)

Chocolate tart - could do quite dark

Treacle tart (the kind that is breadcrumb)

Bread pudding (not dainty!)

Warm chocolate brownie- delicious! You can cook ( slightly undercook) then warm through. Put raspberries in as an option. Can serve with creme fraiche or cream or vanilla ice cream. Dust with icing sugar to look posh.

Sticky toffee pudding? Take it cooked and warm it up a little, serve with custard, cream or ice cream.

Make individual pavlovas, transport and assemble them with whipped cream and fruit/sauce when you get there. It works a treat.

Nigellas brownie recipe is great. So decadent it can be eaten with cream and you only need small squares.

rhubarb, lemon mascarpone and ginger biscuits?

Stew rhubarb in water/OJ, with a bit of sugar
Stir lemon curd through mascarpone cheese.
Both can be transported in Tupperware and chilled until you’re ready.

Once there pop the cheese mix over the rhubarb and crumble ginger nuts on top.

Sticky toffee would be my choice. Easy to transport, doesn't need to be kept cool. Sauce and cream can be added at the event.

Self-assembly Eton mess type thing. I tend to only buy fresh strawberries and raspberries in the summer as I think they're disappointing out of season, but you could use frozen ones and make a compote, with some of them liquidised to make a sauce, or use tropical fruits. Take tub of meringues or meringue pieces, whipped cream, fruit, chocolate sauce, maybe a mix of lemon curd/cream/Greek yogurt too. Then people can just put together the mix they want.

Deconstructed pavlova is easy to transport and very much on trend atm.
