Ok, lentils...

I made the best veggie curry yesterday (potato and aubergine). It was bloody delicious but lentils were added and I've been very 'regular' today - six times Blush How does this happen?? Do the lentils scoop up all the debris from your intestines from the past ten years?

No, not from the last 10 years, from your entire life.

My husband refers to chick peas as gunpowder - I love them & lentils (unfortunately if I eat more than a few they tend to make me feel like I swallowed helium (without the high voice bit) as in serious bloat. he makes dhal with courgettes so it tastes creamy topped with dark fried crispy onions & cumin & chilli & served with thin sliced (raw) onion & sliced toms & a dash of mint sauce (& fish fingers if its Friday Grin )

I had a lentil stew yesterday. I had an exam at 1pm today. I have never had such an uncomfortable experience. It was absolutely wonderful to finish and hotfoot it to the loo.

@jewel here you go:

Fry mustard seeds and cumin seeds in oil until they start to pop (if you have chilli oil even better)
Add fresh garlic and grated ginger, lots of seasoning. Add the spices - chilli, coriander, cumin, garam masala. Let it sizzle then add the veg - I like onion, green peppers, aubergine, potato and mushrooms. I add tomatoes, stock and lentils and let it simmer for about 40 minutes. Then fresh coriander at the last minute, give it a stir!

I was thinking the same just the other day. a) how much I love lentils b) how windy they make me. Really very bloated indeed. It’s a shame as they’re so thrifty, delicious and nutritious and I have so much of them. And they look nice in Kilmer jars Grin I think I’m going to persevere. Any good recipes anyone? I’ll try and find the Anna Jacobs one I like

fibre...
and that's why we go easy on green lentils and add the red ones to everything.

Cool. Think I can manage that.

I think we have to agree lentils are delicious but dangerous. I have to work in a shared office tomorrow so no more curry for me this evening 😫

I was just wondering why I don't experience this but is it only green lentils? I only eat red ones

Because your body has adjusted to the extra fibre.

I've been eating red lentils all my life and my body hasn't adjusted. I still stink. Wish I knew the solution!
