Slow cooked gammon joint :(

Any tips on how to make a gammon joint tastier in a slow cooker? I put a large, unsmoked joint in with a tin of pineapple pieces for 9 hours and it came out bland as anything :(

Would smoked have been better?

Try apple juice and honey

Mustard and honey glaze, studded with cloves and a few bay leaves. Put it into the oven and bake it until nicely glazed.

(Sorry, to be clear, cook in slow cooker and then glaze it and cook it in the oven afterwards for about 25 min)

You can still do this now.

Ah great, thanks for those tips, both. What oven temp?

I’d say 180, for about 25 min, half an hour max. But it’s not to actually cook the ham since that’s already done, so you can just have a look at the glaze and when you’re happy with it, take it out. Don’t cook it for too long as you’ll dry out the meat.

Cook it in cider or full sugar coke if you like it a bit sweeter, then cut the rind off and score the fat and glaze with honey and mustard and put it in the oven for 30 mins.
