Tahini substitute for houmous

What can I use instead of tahini in houmous without changing the flavour too much & without it tasting bland. Extra garlic/seasoning is my plan but anything else?

If I don't have tahini I use crunchy peanut butter

Definitely a nut butter, I love almond, but peanut butter is cheaper.

I can't use a nut butter on this occasion, sorry should have said. Same person who can't have tahini can't have nuts. But tahini has a strong flavour hence just not sure of houmous not going to be as good without tahini or a nutty tasting product

I make a chickpea spread with mayo and garlic, it's pretty good - we pretend it's humous but it's a good cheat.

Not sure about flaxseed, will ask. Might just have a rethink altogether! Thanks for all the suggestions

I don't use tahini in my homemade hummus, i just use loads of garlic and quite a bit of lemon juice. I also use some of the cooking water from the chickpeas to reduce the amount of oil, but that's just to reduce the calorie count.
