Christmas crumble

Wonder if anyone can advise please. I'm making a crumble for 12 people and have decided on a "red" theme, ie I've bought two bags of frozen mixed fruit, raspberries, etc to which I plan to add a couple of Bramley apples which I'll pre cook.
What I was wondering is if I cook the frozen fruit without defrosting then add the apple will I have too much juice flowing all over the crumble when its cooked or would I be better to defrost the frozen fruit and drain some juice off before adding it to the dish with the apple?
Thanks for any advice.

could you have a little practice before the day? My mother made the most wonderful crumbles and she insisted the apple should not be pre cooked, just sliced thinly and have sugar sprinkled over it. you could slice and freeze the apple to make it even easier.

I'd definitely defrost the frozen berries and drain off the juice to avoid it being too sloppy.

I have been making apple tarts recently and they are fab
I peel, core and slice the apples into eighths
Heat some butter in a frying pan and cook the apples until they are golden brown.
Add some sugar and caramelise a little
Add some water, not too much as I like the filling to be quite solid

I would defrost the red fruit and cook it down a little to ensure it isn’t too sloppy

I think I might make an apple tart this afternoon ☺️

How about adding a little arrowroot or cornflour to thicken.
