I want to make a cookbook as a present for DC's big birthday!

I'd like to put all the tried & trusted family recipes in it & maybe a few photos & get it printed up as a birthday present. I've got 18 months to do it in & writing out the recipes is the easy bit (ish!). But I would like to know how to get it all printed up at not too great an expense.

Any ideas?

You could try Googling "vanity publisher", but I think it may be very expensive.
How about printing the recipes with pics, laminating the pages & using a ring binder?

Moleskinne do a recipe book that you fill in yourself that looks lovely and is more personal than a printed one?

My dm had a hand-written recipe book using a large format desk diary.

You'd have to work out the number of pages for each letter and cut out the tabs from the pages. If you then cut out alternate pages near the spine you reduce the thickness and this would allow you to glue in pictures of dishes etc.

I keep meaning to do one myself, but never get around to it.

Could you try printing it as a photo book type thing? (Loads of companies do this).
I have no idea how it would work with text though...

There are loads of companies that print books of your photos

You can hand write the recipe and take a photo of it and add photos of the different steps and finished dish

I’ll have a look for some links

Lovely idea by the way 😁

So the photo above is an example from the link

The main photo could have a photo of your hand written recipe and the other photos could be the stops and finished dish

I would go as pp suggested and make a photobook.

Many thanks for that - I'd quite like it printed as my handwriting is abysmal but will look into that link further, Winner.

You can add text sections to photo books (I've used photobox and you definitely can with them).

Great idea!

I know how you feel, don’t think anyone would be able to decipher my chicken scratches grin

While you can put some txt in the photo books, I think you might struggle with formatting it to resemble an easy to follow recipe

You could type it with nice clear list and bullet point instructions and then take a photo of it

You can self publish via Amazon KPD publishing and then order a copy if your own book. Other people could buy it too.
