Light canapé ideas

Am hosting pre-drinks ahead of going out for a meal. Feel I should provide some nibbles, but need light canapés so as not to fill people . Was thinking olives, pate on thin toast, smoked salmon & cream cheese blinis, melon wrapped in Parma ham. A lot of my other faves are too heavy for pre-drinks, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd chuck a pack of tortilla chips (nice ones, like those blue corn ones) on a plate with a bowl of homemade houmous. Might be too filling, though. Cheese and pineapple on sticks always goes down well too, for some reason. And sticky pigs in blankets (sticky sauce made with sweet chilli sauce, honey and tomato ketchup) baked on a sheet of parchment paper so you're not scrubbing the burnt stuff off for hours.

What’s on the rest of your menu?

I would just roast a selection of nuts (assuming no one is allergic) and sprinkle them them smoked paprika. No point doing canapes if you are going out for a meal unless there will be a big gap.

Thanks all - cheesey sticks and sausages are my go to cananpes, just thought they might be a bit filling. Not sure what else is on the menu but know they won't want too much to eat before, maybe humous, tortilla chips and nuts is the way to go

Smoked salmon alone on the blinis, adding cream cheese makes them really filling.

I'd do nuts as per pp, and crisps and dip. No point in anything else if you're going to eat.

I like bits of fig, mozzarella, Parma ham and basil on a cocktail stick, drizzled with balsamic vinegar.

Cheese straws are always a winner too.
