Using Bakers for mash, will it work?

Just that really. The potatoes meant for mash are only sold in 2.5kg bags at Morrison's and no way I'd get through them before they went off. So I bought 3 big baking potatoes instead. Will my mash be terrible? Any tricks to make it nicer?

It will be absolutely fine. Make as normal.

Thank you fluff! That's what I thought but wanted to check.
When I was a girl potatoes were just potatoes. When did it get so complicated?

Bakers are just large potatoes. As long as they are not salad potatoes they will be fine for mash.

This is how I always make mash for my toddler. Jacket potato in the microwave and then just scoop out the middle. Less faff for a small portion of mash

I sometimes choose bakers for mash coz they’re quicker to peel.

You are all correct. The mash was lovely and tasty. Never again will I be swindled into buying a massive bag of potatoes!
