Hi guys,

I need some inspiration. If you could choose your favourite 3 things you like to see on a buffet what would it be ?

I'm planning my baby shower party for around 40 people. It's in the day time

Wanting some ideas!!! I've looked online but I'm curious what different individual people like to see at a buffet. Thanks guys xxx

It's terribly 70s but I love love love to see vol au vents - chicken, tuna and prawn.
And proper Scotch eggs, not those supermarket ones with hard as bullet eggs.

Yummy sandwiches
Chicken skewers

Jamhandprints Sun 22-Sep-19 21:12:17

Olives, French bread (already buttered unless it's a sit down at a table meal) couscous or pasta salad.

Doilooklikeatourist Sun 22-Sep-19 21:16:47

Nice sandwiches in real bread ( not horrid sliced processed )
Sausage rolls
Huge salad bowl ( lettuce , cucumber , tomatoes , olives , feta , etc )
No no no no no to pasta salad

Pasta is only ever eaten hot

Lots of sandwiches in really good bread.
Lots of tasty, fresh, colourful, herby, middle-eastern type salads.
Tasty lean protein options, eg spicy marinaded chicken skewers.
Freshly made, warm Spanish tortilla, still slightly soft in the middle.
Really good ice cream for pud.

No cold pastry.

Cheese and pineapple on sticks made into a hedgehog.
Cold mini pizzas
Potato salad.

There’s no compromise on the hedgehog by the way, if you’re gonna do it, do it properly.

A side of salmon, a gammon and an onion tart. Then the usual salads, bread and buttered new potatoes.

As per buckeejit I like a Greek Salad too and decent potato salad.

Along with those sides I like a piece of poached salmon, homemade quiche or marinated chicken strips.

Mini desserts always look good on a buffet table too. Baked cheesecake, chocolate eclairs, tiny lemon meringue pies and macarons. That kind of thing.

I agree that pasta should only ever be served hot, I can't bear pasta salad. Rice salad not much better. I love tabbouleh though.

OhTheRoses Sun 22-Sep-19 21:30:07

cherrypavlova got there first. With a platter of salami and a salad of mozzarella pearls, cherry toms, black olives, basil leaves, a smidge of chilli flakes and garlic oil.

Coffeeandchocolate9 Sun 22-Sep-19 21:32:49
