Be-ro flapjack recipe

Does anyone have an old recipe from the be-ro book for flapjack? I have the recipe book but it is missing the first few pages, it is on page 11. I remember it had flour in and no cornflakes. I have a newer version of the recipe and don't like it so much. The front cover of the book has a woman holding a jug, a girl mixing in a bowl and a boy watching.

Thanks in advance!

I only have the cornflakes one, but I've never made it. Flour in flapjacks though...?

Yes EskewedBeef definitely flour. I tried a different recipe and it all fell apart and that didn't have flour in so I am searching for my old faithful from years ago.

NannyR that looks promising! Thank you so much, I will make them this afternoon. Your book looks to be in better condition than mine! Although I remember using this one as a small child and I am fast approaching 25 33

My grandma and my great aunty had several of these books and I inherited them. I've just had a lovely ten minutes looking at all the hand scribbled notes and magazine cuttings and bits of paper with recipes that friends had shared with them. Lots of memories!

Aw I love old recipes, they are usually the best. DH's mam unfortunately passed away last year but she had loads of handwritten recipe cards that I haven't gone through yet. I am sad my book is so tatty but I do have fond memories of using it and getting stuff all over as you do as a child.

We always just did the 2,4,6,8 flapjack recipe which I'm sure was a be-ro one as that's where most of my childhood recipes came from Grin

2 tbsp golden syrup
4 oz Demerara sugar
6 oz butter
8 oz oats

Melt syrup, sugar and butter together, stir in oats.

Around 20 mins at gas 4, cool slightly, slice in tin, leave till cold and pop out.

Use buttered greaseproof baking paper in the tin or they will stick!

How did they work out?

They were perfect! Just as I remember them. I cooked them for a bit longer because they looked a bit pale but I think I used to do that too. I made them for my step son moving into his new place for university but he ended up having a few less than was made 🙈 I did make 2 batches.

@NannyR Recently made, immediately eaten, thank you very much for the recipe. Haven't been able to get any paper to line the tin, so greased heavily and it turned out clean from an enamel baking tin.
