Lamb shoulder

I got a small boned lamb shoulder on yellow sticker.
I don't fancy just plain roasted as not sure what time DH will be in and I don't like lukewarm lamb.
Any ideas for perhaps cooking it in some sort of sauce please?

In the Leon cookery books there is a greek recipe for lamb leg cooked with pasta and tomato sauce -www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2010/09/09/rigas-s-lamb_n_7416354.html

Or slow roasted from Persiana?

I make stews and curries with lamb shoulder. Usually in the slow cooker, but you can do on stove top or in a low oven.

Exact ingredients can be based on what yo have at home. But the base is:

Cut meat into chunks. Dredge in seasoned flour and fry off. Fry sliced/chopped onions. Add chunked carrots. A tin of tomato is good, or a good few tablespoons of passata. We like a stick of cinnamon and a star anise, as well as a bay leaf for herbs (but you could go with something like Rosemary/Thymeetc or go with some cumin/coriander mix. Always include the bay leaf). Add stock. Cook in slow cooker for however long (usually 4 hours on high or 8 on low) or in low oven for at least 2-3 hours, covered.

Additional things to consider adding - other root veg eg potatoes, butternut etc. I sometimes chop up aubergines and fry with the onions then add if I have one lurking in the fridge. Lentils work brilliantly too (but then add more stock as they'll absorb the liquid).

If you like beans/chickpeas - add a tin or two about 20 minutes before the end of the cooking time. My mum always added some cooked peas at the end - works well but any leftovers will have brown peas which are less appealing! Grin.

Alternatively, lamb shoulder makes excellent curry.

Thanks for all your replies. As I had onion, carrots, squash and courgette in the fridge I've done a version of Blinglovings stew.

It's in the oven now

Hope it worked out! I am doing it in the slow cooker today - popped it in before I left this morning. DH has instructions to turn it off for supper for him, kids and MIL. I can't WAIT for mine!
