Is it specific to Fruit (or is that Froot) Shoots? Or any sugar free squash type drinks?

the sweetener aspartame is the main reason not to drink froot shoots, or any other drinks like this.

my main gripe with them is that they're touted as a fruity healthy option when in reality they're about as fruity and healthy as Diet Coke.

I use watered down Innocent Smoothies. Much nice and definitely healthier. More expensive though

They're full of shite.

Watered down juice or juice diluted with sparkling water.

Nothing, if you have a handy tool for scraping your child off the ceiling...

I thought it must be the aspartame - my mum rants about it! I read the label on SILs empty bottle the other day! DD is only 8mo and still only has water. I was just wondering

why do you need to water down fruit juice/smoothies?

I have seen it stated that aspartame is reported to be the most toxic compound added to food.....and it is found in many drinks labelled 'sugar free'. Most notably it is metabolised to 'excitotoxins' i.e. it causes too much nerve activity in the brain. I think I have also seen reports of it being tumourigenic in rats. Just google "aspartame + toxin/c" and see how many hits you get.

I personally choose fully sugar loaded versions as sugar isn't anywhere as bad for you as long as you practice good dental hygeine.

SMS I would rather give my dd sugar in small amounts but some friends who are dentists give thier ds things (yoghurts etc at the moments as only 8mo) with sweetners because it's "much better than sugar" I just nodded quietly

There is nothing good in a Fruit Shoot. Certainly no evidence of fruit! LOL.

Fruit Shoot drinks make my daughter go hyper. Or have in the past - not had one for a veyr long time,

How long should you water down fruit juice and smoothies?

And should you only water down the versions made from concentrate. I only ever buy "freshly squeezed - not from concentrate". Am I being conned?

My DD is just 2 and I don't water down because getting any fruit down her apart from bananas is impossible but she will drink fresh juice?

She only drinks water other than that.

If you are a denitist then artificial sweeteners are much better - of course . As I said - good dental hygiene is important.

DTD1 preferrs to drink water anyway - making hte decsion so much easier. DTD2 won't drink water so she does have squash or fruit juice. She doesn't drink as much anyway. DD3 isn't old enough to argue - so she gets water of occasionally diluted fresh juice.

I don't buy them because of the intensly sweet artificial taste - don't want Ds to get accustoed to something so unnaturally sweet.

Plus the plastic bottles are so wasteful and unecological.

And someone from MN might see me. I am in a high density MN habitat.

I would only water down fesh juice to a) make it more palatable for a small child and b) to reduce the cost as it is more expensive than squashes etc.

If she drinks it neat and drinks water as an alternative and has good denatl hygiene I persoanlly don't see a major problem.

So are fruit shoots okay if wearing wigs and therefore not liable to be recognised and lynched?

When out shopping on Saturday I got DH to take DS1 on ahead to Costa while I popped into Next. To my horror when I caught up with them he'd bought DS1 a FS

When I told DH I would be lkely ostracized from MN for such an act he said he must do it more often...

DS1 went completely barmy btw and DH is now converted to MN thinking on the subject
