Best cookbook for family faves

I want to start cooking more for our family and I want dc to grow up fondly remembering mums cottage pie or chicken curry etc but I haven't got any recipes and am useless at cooking

Luckily dc is still young enough to love pasta and grated cheese but I need to up my game now!

Any good simple traditional family fave cook books or recipes you can recommend?

Everyone in my family for 3 generations, on both mine and my husbands side got this as a leaving home present. We've not made anything that didn't work from it

I have both of the above and they are both lovely- the omelette Arnold bennet from just like mother used to make was the first meal I successfully made for my husband

Diana Henry's simple

Tessa kiros falling cloudberries

Hairy bikers mums know best (the blue one- although both are good , the blue one has the best cheese and potato pie and chicken curry)

Rachel Allen's Home Cooking is a good one - have used it lots and the recipes always turn out really well. It's definitely aimed at people cooking for families, and doesn't expect you to be skilled in the kitchen.

Nigella's books in general are easy for beginners to cook from too, her books pretty much taught me how to cook when I left home. For baking her How To Be A Domestic Goddess is my bible (lots of child friendly recipes in there, plus basic breads / cakes / biscuits etc) and Feast has some excellent recipes for things like cauliflower cheese (so good), curries, breakfasts, feeding kids etc...

Ooo wolfie is right- top bananas the mn cookbook is a lovely family book. Off the top of my head my favourite recipes from it are broccoli balls and a cowgirl stew that I make for frequent dinners and packed lunches here , as well as a microwave jam tart
