how do I make fish cakes?

is it just fish and potatoes?
do you boil the fish as well?
tia, I don't have a clue.

When I make them I use a tin of tuna or salmon!!

If I had fresh fish, I'd poach it first I think

mash
fish
peas (optional, but I like)
parsley (ditto, but must be fresh)

all in a bowl
squish squish

Cricket ball sized ball then squash flat ab it

plop plop in beaten egg (each side), then in flour and bingo

(can also you maize meal i think its called!)

Poach fish in water or milk if you're feeling fancy. Can add a couple of bay leaves and peppercorns, bouquet garni, etc

Equal weights fish and potatoes

Skin and flake fish once cooked

Mash potatoes

Mix together

Form rounds

Cover in seasoned flour

Fry in butter and oil mixture for about ten minutes

hmmmm all very interesting
I was thinking salmon-potato-spring onion and ginger... like the idea of peas as well.
ok, so I'll poach the fish, I have bay leaves !
