Help me adjust this recipe for an awesome birthday cake

Hi,

I want to make a delicious choc cake for my son's 3rd birthday. I've found this recipe

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3092/ultimate-chocolate-cake

But I want to make it bigger, maybe a 30cm tin instead of 20cm. How would I adjust the mixture amount and cook time?

Thanks!

Work out the volume. Measure how much water fills the 20cm tin, then how much fills the 30cm. It's probably a bit more than double.

When you cook it, cover the edges with foil and leave it in quite a lot longer.

Thanks pickleme I'm a total novice, so excuse the stupid questions, do I just cover the edges with foil instead of the whole top? How much of the edges? I'm assuming then that the temp remains the same? Thanks xx

Sorry about kisses, just so automatic Blush!

I'll let you off the kisses!

Same temperature.

Make a foil collar for your tin, and bend the top over slightly. That will stop the edges getting dry before the middle cooks.

Does that make sense?
