Is there any good reason why I can't use Nigella's chocolate cake mixture for cupcakes?

Specifically Nigella's Old Fashioned Chocolate Cake - p269 of Feast. It involves sour cream but is basically just a rich sponge - would that work OK for cupcakes? Lower oven temperature (than 180) needed? What about using a brownie recipe for cupcakes? Am I missing something blindingly obvious? This is all part of my over-the-top plan for DD's imminent 18th birthday celebrations. Thanks.

They're only fairy cakes if you want to cover them with pink icing and silver balls.
Are they shaped like a fairy or are they shaped like a cup? Do fairies eat them? Until I have photographic evidence of fairies eating them I will call them cupcakes .

cupcakes are only cake so it dosen't really matter if you use a cake recipe. My favorite recipe for a Vanilla cake I use to make cupcakes as well, its just a diffrence of time really. As for the brownies I would suggest you keep to the brownie tin and after you cut them up place them in the cake cases, otherwise they will just be cakes and not brownie as brownie is meant to be gooie not cakey.

Fairy cakes are when you slice the top off cupcakes, cut the slice it in half, and use the two halves to make 'wings' on top of the cake.
