DS needs to cook more at uni but has very limited facilities.

Any suggestions for a good cook book?

I assume there is a hob. Therefore no book required just Jack Munroe's blog.

There is a hob, a kettle and a toaster.

I thought about Jack Munroe's blog but I thought he might be better with a book. But that's probably because I am old, and like reading cook books.

There are several books from jack that can be purchased.

Does it involve lots of pulses? Because I can't really see that being a winner...

I tried to teach him to cook, honest, but he wasn't very interested.

He's gonna have to learn. Jack creates a lot of different recipes that aren't just pulses, i have every one of their books and they're amazing.

I'm not a fan of a slow cooker, but in these circs I agree it would be the best £20 you could spend. No technique required, easy on the power...

What’s his weekly/monthly budget like? And are there he likes/dislikes eating? And will he be sharing with others? Might help paint a bigger picture.

I agree re slow cooker, it will make life much easier for him if he would manage to think ahead enough.
If not Jack Monroe is inspiring.

Slow cooker - standard one is £14 in Asda. Small compact one £10. Get him one for Christmas.

Also would recommend a slow cooker, you can get quite small ones now though my Tesco basics one was cheap as chips and been feeding a family of four for years!
I really like my Covent Garden soup cook book, if you wanted to supplement it with a hand blender?

Can't he buy a mini oven? I got my Dad one when his oven packed up and it is the best thing he has ever had! Perfect for one person and cheap as well, very economical. Something like this one:

https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7249527?cmpid=GS001&$ja=tsid:59157%7Cacid:480-316-7430%7Ccid:199888833%7Cagid:17471076873%7Ctid:pla-371198914274%7Ccrid:74692319553%7Cnw:g%7Crnd:16007278866143037480%7Cdvc:m%7Cadp:1o2%7Cmt:%7Cloc:1007208&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIleOmr7i43wIV7r3tCh0AjgkNEAQYAiABEgKsqfDD_BwE

Some of them also have a hob function on top of the mini oven.

Also, I highly recommend "Nosh for Students".

I've followed it many times even though I'm not a student but I am on a cheap budget and they do have some lovely meals on there!
