Party food for both Jewish and Hindu guests

I have got some older kids (12+) coming over for a party next week and in the group is a Jewish child, who eats kosher, and a Hindu child, therefore no beef. The rest all eat everything else.

Can anyone suggest what I can feed them, bearing in mind they are sleeping over so I need to cater for evening meal and then breakfast the next day.

To complicate matters they are going to a pizza restaurant for lunch so that knocks that on the head for the dinner option.

What can I serve them?

Are you sure they are kosher, only they won’t be able to eat anything from your kitchen? Or the pizza restaurant, unless it is also kosher. Ask the parents to supply. I think nacho bars always go down well as the kids can create their own with their chosen toppings. Or sushi platters, kids love sushi. For breakfast just supply those mini cereal boxes and some pain au chocolat.

Curry? Ordered from a takeaway that does good vegi food.

Do you have a raclette? They could all cook their own stuff then.

Are you intending to cook or will the kids help out? I'm thinking a huge pot of rice and then a few tins of chinese veg like beansprouts and water chestnuts, some fresh veg, give them a Wok and let them make a stir fry, gets some chicken breast from a kosher butcher if they want meat.

Make their own donner kebab - there's a recipe on the BBC, from the 'eat well for less' for home made donner meat, I think they mixed lamb and beef mince but you could do all lamb.

Then they can help themselves to salad and pitta bread. Add a pot of humus and some olives and you are done.

I agree with the poster upthread about kosher meaning he an't eat anything from your kitchen but many many Jewish people eat kosher at home and vegi when out.

If he is completely kosher he / she will bring their own food, plate and cuttlery.

For breakfast one of those variety packs of cereal and scrambled egg on toast.

I think your best option is to go veggie as your Jewish guest can’t have milk and meat in the same meal.

Dinner, nachos is a great shout

Breakfast - pancakes/ croissants

Check if the Jewish friend is strictly kosher in which case they will have to bring their own food. If not they will be fine with vegetarian.

Ditto just sticking to vegetarian food, and maybe fish, but not shellfish.

OK so I thought the sushi option was a winner but it turns out half the party don't like sushi.

I don't know how strict they are. Strict enough for it to be mentioned but not so strict as to say

DD doesn't like nachos, but I wondered if fajitas would be OK, if I made them with kosher chicken?

Don’t bother with kosher chicken. They won’t be able to have cheese or any other dairy if you do kosher meat. Also it’s twice the price of non kosher.

You could do chicken for the others and quorn for the Jewish kid. That way they could eat all the other bits. Stuff like guacamole and even mayo can have dairy in. And they wouldn’t be able to have any dessert with dairy in after a meat meal.

Oh crikey! So you can't have ice cream after a roast dinner. I just thought it wasn't on the same plate. I have a lot to learn here.

Guacamole and nayo shouldn't contain any dairy. Guacamole has no business going anywhere near dairy.

Just stick to vegetarian ootions. It is easy.

You can have ice cream after, but need to wait a while. The amount of time depends on the person. My family say half an hour

Just a thought, fish and chips. It started life as a Jewish traditional meal.
