Using stock cubes instead of salt?

I am not the best cook and often when making certain meals I find I haven't put enough salt in or it's at least lacking something.
I have resorted to putting stock cubes in nearly everything instead of salt. I just crumble in it. Today I put half a stock cube in my pasta sauce I was making (about 250ml pasta sauce).
I told a friend how I made it as she said it was nice. She then said no wonder it's nice it's loaded with salt especially as I don't dilute it in water first. Shock is this correct?

I use Marigold veggie bouillon powder when I'm not sure what is lacking in a dish. I call it "magic powder" and don't dilute it first.
If you are using stock cubes instead of salt can't see the problem really. Oxo do low salt version ones now

Diluting it in water makes no difference really, half a cube is half a cube whether or not you add water!

I put stock cubes in lots of food, it's nice!

Diluting it in water doesn't make a difference - if a stock cube has 1g of salt, so will the stock you make from it!

It might be worth working out how much salt you are actually adding with a stock cube. If you'd happily add that amount of actual salt then there's no issue, is there?

Yes, adding water makes no difference to the amount of salt one stock cube contains.

That said I use stock cubes in lots of dishes, pasta sauces, casseroles etc to add flavour. If you don't add much salt in addition to the stock cube then I don't think it's a problem.

You can buy low sodium versions if it bothers you.

Instead of a stock cube try adding Pesto

I wouldn't use pesto personally - it's very salty too! www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-41493440
