It's my DD's 1st bday on Saturday and we're having a little family party. I've become obsessed with making a number one shaped cookie cake (i.e. two big cookies sandwiched with buttercream or similar and decorated all jazzy)...I think i've seen a photo of something similar and it's stuck in my mind.

I'm crap at creative baking but can follow a recipe easily enough, anyone know of any good instructions to do something like this?

I'm a bit late, but did you do it? I guess you'd need a massive cookie cutter and to time the baking just right?

I did do it! It looked pretty impressive if I do say so myself! However it was extremely amateur in its method - basically I tried to mould the cookie by hand into a number shape, it then obviously splurged into a misshapen mess in the oven after which I cut it back into a number shape.

The cookie recipe I used was to make a gooey cookie so I overlooked it by about ten mins to firm it up.

I made two so I did some buttercream piping and sandwiched them together, then did a bit of handiwork with some fun sprinkles, party rings and flying saucers. Totally stole the decoration idea from a friend.

It tasted sickeningly sweet but got a lot of 'oooh's from the family! GrinHalo
