Anyone made Delia's Chocolate Truffle Torte?

I am looking at this as a possible Christmas dessert. Has anyone ever made it? Is it really as nice as she makes out?

From the ingredients list I can't believe it wouldn't be nice.

I've made it a few times, but not recently.
It's delicious but very very rich. I normally serve it with raspberries to balance out the chocolate.
I've also made a pimped up version with cointreau which is like the best Terry's chocolate orange ever!
I think you need liquid glucose which you get from a chemist. It's very thick and syrupy so I warm Thr jar in hot water to make it easier to measure out

One of my old favourites. Delicious but very rich, yes to serving with raspberries and and some pouring cream.

Yes, haven’t made it for years but it’s lovely. You only need a tiny piece per person though as someone else said it’s very rich. Enjoy!

I may have to give it a trial run in the next few weeks. I am having some people over for Christmas and I need to do as much as I can beforehand. This may work.

Dr. Oetker do a tube of liquid glucose so I will look out for that on my rounds.

Too rich has never been a problem in the past but will add some raspberries just in case Wink

Yes, it is a Christmas staple in our house. I also make ahead and freeze so great for a Boxing Day dessert. It is very easy to make and tastes like eating a box of belgian chocolates!

I make it every year, it’s a Christmas classic here! Very rich, but lovely. I freeze it in advance- making it this week.

Yes, I have been making it since the Christmas book first came out.

You can get liquid glucose from a pharmacy (was the only place I could find it in the nineties!).

This looks amazing and I want to make it. However I can't use amaretti biscuits due to allergies. What could I substitute them with, has anyone tried?

I guess you could use any crumbly biscuit. Good old Digestives make a good base with a bit of melted butter

I have just bought liquid glucose from Tesco. I've a spare to do a dry run. Make sure you buy early incase it's popular. Last year I couldn't get limes as everywhere sold out.

I'll let you know how it pans out.

I've made it, it was nice but very rich. If its from the Christmas book (can't be bothered to check its in the other room) I can seriously recommend the apple cake, thats one of my go to recipes for all sorts.

Hmmm, this looks good but I don't know if DD would like the rum taste... Those who have made it before, is the rum a strong taste?

Has anyone made it in smaller individual portions??

We didn’t add the rum. You could use Cointreau. Or just leave it out.

Yes, many years ago, in a time when I did a reciprocal dinner party or two, it was one of my staple puddings, looked impressive if I remember rightly. As others have stated it's incredibly rich, a small slice is all anyone needs.

It's so easy, can be made in advance, frozen, made without the base and poured into little individual glasses, made with Cointreau, we sometimes use crushed ginger nuts.It really is versatile.

I've made it without the rum as that's a hefty flavour to add, it's perfectly fine without and children friendly.
I've also made it with 1/3 white chocolate and swirled it into the plain chocolate, looks lovely.
Agree that it is brilliant to freeze, just omit the dusting of cocoa.
You can mess about with the recipe quite a bit

I've made it with gluten free digestives for guests. I've also made it with no biscuits, just a layer of crushed hazelnuts which is yummy, and as a mousse.
I never use the liqueur so it's suitable for all.
