Morning bakers!
I am attempting to construct a barbie cake for my dd. The base is nigellas buttermilk cake and I have ready to roll icing to cover it.
My question is, do I need to use buttercream to stick the icing to the cake or would a bit of warm jam do the job? I have visions of the icing and decorations sliding off...

I'm no baker but whenever I've used ready to roll icing I've always stuck it down with warm jam or buttercream as you say. Have a look on YouTube, there's loads of those barbie cake videos, my daughter watches them all the time

Went with buttercream. Didnt exactly look like the youtube versions, but im sure it'll be eaten. The offcuts were yum!
