Overnight oats and other carbs

Can other grains be prepared in the same way? Rice, pasta, what else?

What about 'hayboxing' by putting carb and hot water in a thermos overnight?

Pasta and rice need heat to cook. They won't be edible after just soaking them

The physics of hay box cooking will still work, but it would be tricky to get the timing right. Possibly pasta bake?

Why are you wondering?

Couscous, of course!

Thinking of cooking without getting too hot while doing so.

I have a fabulous Joseph Joseph microwave rice cooker which might help!

You could do the same with barley, rye, spelt, buckwheat or rice flakes - or with whole buckwheat - but not with pasta or rice sadly

Why rice flakes but not rice?

Barley: would it need to be the quick-cook sort, or the ordinary pearled barley which takes an hour or so on the hob?
