Pizza dough

My local Sainsbury's used to sell frozen pizza dough but it has now been discontinued! The Napolina bases taste horrible. Does anyone know where I can buy good quality pizza dough or pizza bases as my kids love to put their own toppings on. Failing that, has anyone got a super-easy tried and tested recipe ?

Natural yoghurt and flour. Equal amounts mixed together then more flour for kneading and rolling. It doesnt need much kneading just to get it into a ball to roll out.
Roll out then put on a baking tray in a hot oven a few minutes each side then add the toppings and bake on 200.
If you use plain flour you need to add baking powder. I've tried it with Italian flour which is nicer but normal self raising is fine.
The dough can be frozen and you can also freeze the part baked pizza bases. It's nice with Italian herbs stirred into the flour too.

Pizza dough is so easy, I use a cup of tepid water to activate a rounded teaspoon of dried yeast with a teaspoon of sugar and glug of olive oil. Stir and leave for 10 minutes until a bit foamy.
Sift 350g strong white flour into a bowl and stir in yeast mixture with a knife.
Turn out and knead for 10 minutes.
Flour bowl, add dough and cover with a damp teatowel for an hour.
This recipe makes 2 big pizzas and 2 small kids pizzas.

Paul Hollywood basic white bread dough recipe is good. Make a double batch and freeze in balls for another day to save making the mess twice!
Sainsbury's white bread mix is good too. Just add water.

I've tried a few, and settled on this one. It's nice and unfussy, my kids help me do it, and describes how you can just pop it in the fridge or freezer and use it when you're ready.

My local store sells “naked” bases with the chilled pizza - maybe try those?

Alternatively a pita bread can make a good substitute

Pita bread or a wholemeal wrap is a cheap alternative

Excellent glad it worked out. I made bread sticks to dip in soup last week. Rolled them up into little sausage shapes then rolled flat. They went down well Smile

If you want to revert to being lazy like me then Tesco sell ready rolled pizza bases. They're with the jusrol and stuff normally I think.

Agree with the PP on the Jamie Oliver recipe: www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/bread-recipes/pizza-dough/

It's even better the next day!
