Reheating rice, fridge to freezer?

I cooked jambalaya last night (very tasty!) and had left overs. I put them straight into the fridge after cooking and will eat some for lunch today but there's too much. Can I take out what I want for lunch then freeze the rest? If I then cook thoroughly from frozen, will it make me sick? Or should I have frozen immediately last night instead of putting in the fridge?
