Just had a craving for Coronation chicken, made it for my DTeens ....Everyone has gone mad for it.
Made me think.....in these times of quinoa, butternut squash and halloumi (which I love) what retro food do you still serve?

Me?
I love a retro curry with raisins.
Can’t beat chicken Kiev.
And at a party I once served a tin foil wrapped grapefruit with cheddar and pineapple on cocktail sticks (like my mother used to serve) ironic obv, but it went down a storm.

really...if you have a grapefruit there's no need for the tin foil....the tinfoil is to disguise the potato you had to use instead of the stunt grapefruit.

I really like chicken kiev too, recently been making my own, but the butter never stays in.

I do like a quiche....with new potatoes and salad
and a blackforest gateau.

I love a prawn cocktail, acceptable on iceberg lettuce but divine on half an avocado.

I haven't had a globe artichoke for ages, I really fancy one now. I used to love them in the 70s and 80s, my grandmother grew them in her garden and they were so tender and sweet.

Findus crispy pancakes. I know they're crap but I do miss them - I never buy them these days.

Vienetta! It always seemed so posh in the 80s but you can get it for a quid now - one day I'll get around to buying one and seeing if it's still the same.

That chocolate sauce you put on ice cream, and it froze solid. Ice Magic?
Love that stuff.
I remember the advert with the skier, skiing frantically downhill, as an avalanche of the stuff chased him 😋

Yes to Coronation chicken, curry with sultanas (I think it was based on a more West African type curry than an Indian one, prawns in any form and I bring to the table - liver, bacon and onions, but obviously not in this weather and certainly not pig's liver.

Pineapple upside down cake! With glacé cherries in the holes

I’m very fond of cheese and pineapple on a stick and serve it whenever we have a party!

I have a desperate urge for chicken kiev now... I know what I'm buying tomorrow.

Do they MAKE Ice Magic anymore? It would blow the DC's tiny minds.

Prawn cocktail. Occasionally I make DH and i prawn cocktail as a kind of Friday night snack. Yum.

But really it would have to be cheese Findus crispy pancakes, McCain oven chips, brown sauce and arctic roll for pudding with chocolate sauce.
