I'm a bit (ok a massive) novice when it comes to catering for large parties and life pre baby would not have seen me cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Fast forward to 12 months later, and I seem to have given myself and hubbie the task of a BBQ on the weekend and a family gathering on tuesday.
Can you lovely ladies hit me with ideas for a slow cook meal for 9 adults , BBQ ideas that are quick, and finally an easy cake to bake???
thanks a mill from a slightly scared mama ha x

For the 9 adults I'd slow cook a whole leg of lamb and serve with flatbreads, salad, tzadziki (easy to make or you can buy 4-5 tubs and decant into a serving bowl), maybe an orzo or couscous salad as well. Lots of olives and breadsticks and tapenade to start, dessert you can do sorbet. So basically the only things you have to cook are the lamb and the salad, everything else is just assembly.

BBQ I'd roast a bunch of chicken thighs in the oven and finish them off on the grill with a bbq glaze. I'd also throw on bratwurst sausages and lots of cut up veggies brushed with crushed garlic, salt and olive oil (courgettes, aubergine, peppers halved lengthwise, big flat field mushrooms, long thin broccoli are all lovely on the grill). Burgers are an enormous faff and never come out nicely on the grill, I wouldn't bother. British sausages and raw chicken take forever to cook through so best to start them in the oven - you can even do this the day before and just warm through on the grill to get a smoky taste.

This is a fail safe recipe for a delicious light Thai chicken curry www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/slow-cooker-thai-curry It requires some fancy ingredients but I've always been able to get them from sainsburys or Tesco.

Speedy BBQ recipes
recipes.sainsburys.co.uk/recipes/main-courses/chicken-and-lemon-kebabs Best served with tortilla wraps as suggested in the recipe. I wrap a stack of tortillas in foil and put on the BBQ to warm.
recipes.sainsburys.co.uk/recipes/main-courses/curried-chicken-kebabs Delicious served with barbecued naan bread.
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/11746/fiery-prawn-skewers these are great served with couscous which is a doddle to prepare and takes just 10-15 mins soaking in boiled water.
