Boring cooking - ideas needed!

Hi All,

I feel like my menu at home has got very boring.

We seem to eat the same stuff repeatedly and I'm sick of it! We seem to eat a tonne of pasta. Everyday, it seems to be something based around pasta. Otherwise it's shepherds pie, mince and dumpling or similar.

All very basic, boring stuff. What else can I make that's simple and quick? (Preferably something a 10 month old can enjoy too)

Curry? Vegetable Indian style, or chicken tikka, or thai red/green?

I have puréed up Indian style curried with lots of yogurt for my baby and she loved it. Obviously just take it easy on the heat and garlic and seasoning!

Our meal plan this week (2 year old will eat most of this too)

Yoghurt chicken kebab, pittas, hummus, fruity cous cous (DS fave so make extra for lunches!)

Stuffed mushrooms with salad and garlic bread

Nando’s chicken, wedges, corn on the cob & coleslaw

Quiche, salad, new potatoes

Bacon and pea risotto with poached egg and salad

Minimal effort this week as it’s so hot and I’m 8 months pregnant!

Risotto is easy, you can even make it in the oven, use chicken and a wide range of vegetables.
If they get on with risotto you could try paella next.

Toddlers usually like fish, as it's easy to eat with deciduous teeth, and there is a wide choice available, also quick and easy to cook.

Frittata is quick and simple and good for using up vegetables.

Home made soup is filling and cheap.

Place marking!

I use the Tasty food app for ideas and also Ocado as you can instantly add ingredients to your online basket.

Chicken in orange:
Fry onion and chicken
Add orange juice and simmer until it thickens
Scoop out some sauce and add cornflour if you want to thicken it more
Add cream or Creme fraiche before serving

Serve with rice (or the dreaded pasta) and veg

Sometimes I add peas or fine beans into the sauce to cook as I can't be bothered to steam them separately.

My mum does the same thing but wih chicken stock not juice and adds grapes to have with tagliatelle xx

Jamblaya is pretty quick and you can make it as hot as you choose. How about Posh Dogs? These Pork & Apple Burgers are tasty, cheap and you make enough mixture to make meatballs to have another evening with your beloved pasta Grin

Hello Fresh have all their recipes listed in their recipe archive to look at for free online and print off. You don't have to buy the kits.
The recipes are really simple - they keep the ingredients list short(to save them money) but everything I have cooked has been tasty (I often add some yoghurt on the side or extra veg etc). Just eave out the chilli for youngsters.
