Hi ladies do you make your own bolognese or tomato pasta sauce? Could I try your recipe?
Thanks

Yes. Mine is very simple . (Dh is From Bologna so won 't accept any new-fangled versions Wink) Gently fry chopped onion, celery and carrot, add 500g of mince (half pork/half beef). When browned add a squirt of tomato puree and a tin of tomatoes (I generally only add these if making into lasagne). Season and add herbs. Simmer for as long as possible but at least two hours.

This traditional recipe never lets me down. The longer you cook it, the better. Don’t go lean on the beef either!

No garlic tortellini?

For an easy tomato pasta sauce, crush garlic, add whole tinned plum tomatoes, teeny bit of sugar and reduce. Stir really well, add chopped fresh basil and season.

Marcella Hazan's recipes are my standby for pasta sauces.

No garlic! It can go in the tomato sauce though.

Chop onions fry in oil, and chopped garlic and 500g minced beef, brown the mince
Add 2 tins chopped toms and plenty of purée, tiny pinch of sugar to balance out acidity of tomato’s, salt (liberally) pepper, dried oregano and basil - mushrooms if I have them, we also like chilli powder in as we like it spicy( but not to everyone’s taste!)
Then simmer for 30/40 mins, lid off at end and turn up to reduce sauce if needed.
I use for spag Bol, but also same for making lasagne. Or leave mince out for veggie version maybe add peppers?

I do roughly the same as chickywoo but always add plenty Worcestershire Sauce.

Heat oil
add onion & garlic & black pepper
add mince
add tin of chopped tomatoes
add herbs; bay leaf, basil, oregano & thyme
season with salt & more pepper if needed.
I sometimes add a touch of hot pepper sauce if I want it spicy.
